Love Mercy exists to empower communities in Northern Uganda to overcome poverty caused by the horrors of war. Formed in 2010 out of a running relationship between two Olympians, Eloise Wellings of Australia and Julius Achon of Uganda, Love Mercy is transforming the lives of current and future generations.
Ascent partners with Love Mercy in their sustainable agriculture, micro-financing project, Cents for Seeds. Through the project, a woman is provided with a 30kg loan of seeds such as beans or sesame, as well as a hand-held gardening tool, educational workshops and access to savings groups.
Having grown her crop, she is able to derive revenue from the crop and pay back the initial ‘seed capital’ from a portion of that yield.
We’re dreaming together that by 2020, twenty thousand woman will be connected with Cents for Seeds and be empowered and released from poverty.
